would treated lumber last longer without the coating or is it environmentally hazardous?
It's my understanding that treated lumber will react with aluminum and oxidize it. I believe the stuff they use is corrosive, and I'm not sure if it might be hard on fasteners and trailer paint/metal or not. I put red cedar bunks under my aluminum boat 7 years ago and they are still holding up well.
Red cedar lasts a good long time, and has no safety issues, so if going wood that is what I would use.
