Paul kind of hit it on the head.

I had several Optimax motors. GREAT motors. I even took a guy fishing one day and he said "boy that 4 stroke is nice, you can't even hear it" Ha. But when I purchased my new boat I went with the newer technology which for me was the Merc 150 - 4 stroke. It has been a very good motor so far, but all it takes is one cheap electronic component made over seas that can change any of them!

After I sold my rig with the Opti on it I figured I would just give the left over oil to a buddy or sell it cheap. WOW, that's when I realized all my buddies had 4 strokes and it took me 9 months to find someone who would buy the left over oil I had cheap.

From a performance stand point both the newer 4 strokes and Opti style are probably too close to measure, but from an envirnomental stand point the current 2 strokes are getting a bad rap and we will probably see the number of 2 strokes available continue to go down.

Hey, have a good day.
