To bdog: I don't think a lot of these bigger motors are all that much heavier. Don't think the 557 is more than 100 lbs more than a 250 Verado. Also think the physical size of the 225,250 & 300 Verados are all in the same case. The 400 is likely bigger and heavier, but I'd bet not that much. As to transoms, my 620 Ranger is rated a 250 HP, but I totally believe you could hang two of them on there--no problem. With respect to HP, it's like I tell my wife, "you can't tell from size."
