Jerry, That is the typical mounting plate that comes with first generation Smooth Moves seats.
Nice, sure answered the question of why it was installed in my boat in the first place. Haha, didn't mean to imply that the original owner had a weight problem.
I might be ordering one of those set back plates for the passenger side to get that seat away from the dash some more, and will seal up good with caulk too... so some useful information for me as well - thanks!
I think the concept of a custom plate is still an option for Justin, and the set back plate might be an inexpensive solution too because it can be bolted down in front of his weak spot in the floor. I also really like the way it reduces the leverage that's created when leaning back against the seat... that's normally when they pull out.
Off subject; those smooth moves seats are worth every penny in rough water for anyone with back problems BTW.
