Hiya,

I would disagree with that statement. Any Good 2 stroke oil will work just fine in it. A recommended oil would be Amsoil HP injector. It is a synthetic oil with less fumes and burns cleanly, less smoke, and will work really well in any 2 stroke that is not a high pressure direct injection. From what I recall, the 175 is a carbuerated 2 stroke.

Not to say Johnson/Evinrude oil is a bad choice, but it is not the only choice out there. The synthetics, in my humble opinion, do a much better job of running cleaner.
