Location: Crystal Lake, IL | For what it's worth, when I bought my boat last year from Cabelas (2013 Alumacraft w/125 Opti), the Lead Mechanic told me that I should not be using one. I don't remember the specifics of what he said, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a piece of aluminum attached to a 300-500lb motor by a bungee cord. If the motor wants to move, that piece of aluminum and bungee is not going to prevent it, it's just going to move with it. You're only going to cause additional stress to an area of the trailer that is meant to support a load from the top, not from the side. But if it helps you sleep at night, by all means, use one! |
