I think for casting deck space for a couple guys it would be hard to beat the open gunnel version of the Tuffy 1760 tiller with a rear casting platform. That's some serious elbow room for a 17 footer.

For a slightly lighter version, I hope the proposed x-176 will offer a similar interior tiller layout as a comparison point. I would assume that would get into a little skinnier water at times for those of us river fisherman.
