Big bays are the only way to go. I fish in a place where 26-40' diesel powered boats are the norm and other than super long transits (where you need a crapper and sheltered cabin) I hang with the sport fishing guys getting offshore to hit salmon and other species, and I do it comfortably. The design and features of a bay are well-suited for big water and keeping one safe. It's all I see myself ever using in a 20' boat.

Fishability is great and storage is addressed with a Just Encase or Yeti front and rear, depending on species.
