Location: Perryville, MO | It largely depends upon what you're hoping for the unit to do. If all you're looking for is to find the depth (and check the temperature) than you're in luck...lots of solid options that you'll be happy with. If you're wanting to locate structure, bait-schools, and actually see fish than I suggest considering a used unit (as the units a step up from that range, the $400-$500 range, do far better, in my experience anyway). Lots of great deals start popping up this time of year. I've been a Lowrance user, but H-bird has great units as well. Sacrifice the HD and you'll see plenty of nice and very affordable units popping up over the course of the next several months.
