Not how it works here. One can offer actual facts about why they believe one is superior to the other, that will lead to far better information than someone offering anonymous, barely legible garbage bashing one or the other.

That said, I have a 'Bird 998cSI, love it. Nice side imaging, nice down imaging, easy operation, great compatibility with Navionics, good price, no problems with the unit at all. I have a 596c on the bow, nice sonar.

I don't think this unit is 'superior' to any comparable unit built by Lowrance, both companies build great products. Try both, pay particular attention to ease of operation, display characteristics, menu functionality, and what you want the unit to do for you, and make a decision based upon facts.
