I have a 16' starcraft with a 30 horse Johnson, both are late 80's. I thought it was terrible when I first got it. It had a 13 pitch prop when I got it, I dropped down to a 12 pitch. It helped but still wasn't good. Then I put a 11 pitch on it. That made a world of difference, it can plane out with 3 guys, gear, and a livewell full of water now.
