I went from Lowrance HDS7 to a Humminbird 898 (or whatever the 7" model is). I used it for one summer and immediately went back to Lowrance. The fuctionality of the Bird is lacking if you ask me compared to Lowrance.

The Bird was ok and I would never bash the product. My main concern was the zoon feature. One push of the button and it zooms too far in. Push zoom out and it zooms too far out.

Lowrance zooms in and out in tiny little increments and it MUCH more fuctional (for me anyways) because of that feature.

The other main problem I remember (I think) was that I couldn't shrink down the size of the font on the depth and water temp, etc. It took up like 20% of the screen. That was way too frustrating.

Just my opinion.
