Regarding settings, are you running both units in Auto Sensitivity mode or Manual Mode? Also, is your ducer for your console unit mounted as shoot-thru-hull or is it mounted on the outside of the transom.

I will say that the only time I run my units in Manual Mode is when fishing over submerged vegetation. Otherwise, Auto Mode works great when not fishing over grass. However, thick vegetation can throw Auto mode for a loop, as the unit can recognize the top of the thick vegetation as bottom. I run my bow unit with transducer on trolling motor at 60-65% sensitivity to read the grass well and see the true bottom. However, on my console unit, because I have the ducer mounted as shoot-thru, about 10 % of the power is absorbed by the hull, so I run that unit at 70-75%.
