I have an 1800 Pro V tiller and have no problems fishing out of the front. With 8.5 ft & 9 ft rods figure eigths are no problem. Fishing from the back is doable but there isn't much of a raised area to stand on and the bait well and tiller handle can get in the way. I like it and would consider another if I was in the market
