Would it be possible to buy a new Ranger boat without a motor and have someone else mount an engine? I have a friend who just retired and could professionally mount it for me ? Thoughts? Thx

You can do anything you want. If you look hard enough I'm sure you could find plenty of illegal drugs and weapons to purchase too! People have rigged over-rated motors to boats before. I doubt you'd find many dealers willing to do it, and I doubt you'd find any insurance companies that would insure it. If all of that is okay with you, I'm sure you'd find a way to rig up a bigger motor.

If you really want a tiller boat, you have to come to terms with them all being "underpowered" or buy a 20+ footer with power steering.
