If you are worried about speed go with a bigger motor. I'm running a 90 optimax tiller on a tuffy rated for 75. The console version of the boat can hold a 135 so the 90 is no problem. I did it because of a higher cruise speed. It will run 39 mph 2 guys full gear. The cruise speed is 30 which is perfect for me. However to make it safer I did go with the new Merten hydrolic assist system. Yamaha makes a new 70 that would perfect for that boat. Pm me if you want additional details.


I think the 90 would be awesome on the 1760T. With that said I would be very nervous about doing it. Not really for safety, but coast guard, insurance, etc. Would be a sweet rig but I would be asking a lot of questions before I powered my boat above the max rating.
