I'm downsizing from a bass boat to a Competitor 165T. At first it was a no brainer, go with the Yam 70hp. But I've done a ton of research and the Merc 60hp Big Foot puts up some impressive hole shot and acceleration numbers while only giving up a 1-2 mph on the top end. I'm mostly concerned with popping up on plane and being able to cruise in the high 20's with three in the boat. I'm partial to Merc as I have an Opti now that I've been very happy with.

Any feedback from those with experience with the above would be appreciated. Oh, the boat packaged with the Yamaha 70 priced out at $500 more than with the Merc 60BF/Big Tiller so price really isn't an issue.
