Looking at electronic options for a new boat. I'm not going to dump a ton into sonar to start with but i'd like one decent one. I'm going for a console mounted unit and I'd like one that can network with a future 1100 series hbird. I'm tore between the 798 for side scan, or get a bigger unit and give up sidescan for an 858. Old boat had down scan and I've never had sidescan however. I'm just not sure about being worth the extra cost and since I haven't had it before I wont miss the sidescan. I'm sure almost everyone will chime in it's worth it, but I'd have a very hard time ever coming up with $2700ish for an 1198. The 1158 however would be more obtainable.
