Are you sure it's 6 beeps? And only at idle? Could be a sensor alarm condition, such as Throttle Position Sensor, or one of the temp sensors. I had some dirt in my compressor cooling chamber, and it restricted flow some. After it idled for a while, it would beep constantly on acceleration. Sometimes all I had to do was back off and accelerate again, other times, I had to turn the motor off and restart. Then it would be good for most of the day. Took it to the dealer, and they cleaned it out, and no more issues.

Intermittent short beeps is a non critical situation, so you can use your motor until you determine the problem.

Continuous horn is a critical alarm, and you should not run the motor. Get it to a Merc Dealer and have it diagnosed before further use.

Does it ever go into Engine Guardian mode?

4 beeps every two minutes is either the OIL Reserve tank low, or the water in fuel from the engine mounted fuel filter/water separator.

If it's the oil level low, it will usually sound just as you are accelerating to plane. Make sure the level is to the top in the reservoir. If not, fill as noted. If it continues even when full, it's likely the magnet on the float has come off. If so, you'll need a new oil reserve tank, about $60-70. Maybe cheaper on E-Bay.

To empty the water from the fuel separator, DO NOT remove fuel filter. There is a hose under the fuel chamber from left to right. Remove the hose from the right side fitting, and put in a container to collect the contents of the fuel chamber. Use a 1/8 in. hex wrench to loosen the drain screw on the left side by the fitting, and drain the fuel filter chamber. You can force fuel through the system by using the primer bulb. Close the drain screw, and replace the drain hose to the right side fitting. Pump the primer until hard.

Hope this helps.
