The firmware may not be up to date since I see there was a new update 5/10/2013. Was up to date prior to the beginning of season though.

None of the imaging, side or down, and sonar are working. The sonar can't seem to find bottom. It's acting as if the sensitivity is turned all the way down. It locks onto the bottom for a second, after about 3 seconds, the depth reading starts blinking, then it finds it again for a second. Display doesn't show anything usable though. This repeats every 5 seconds or so. 998 is new this year and had been working fine up until thursday when I was on the water. Tried powering down several times to no avail. Don't know for sure since it came setup with the boat, but I believe it's only using the one transducer. The 788 on the bow is using the universal transducer on the trolling motor and is working. Did not try reseting to defaults. Would have to get back on the water to see if that would clear things up.

I am having the same issue with my 998c HD SI. I also lost temp prior to what you described above happening. I hooked my 998 up to the trolling motor transducer and temp worked so I told Humminbird that. I now have a new transducer on its way. Hopefully the new transducer fixes the problem of the sonar not working. My SI went out first, so I reset to default settings. Upon doing that I got the "transducer not connected" message upon powering up. Now I have lost both my standard sonar and my SI. I believe I should have the new transducer this week, and will be out this weekend. I can let you know if the new transducer fixed the problems.
