The new Explorer's are quite nice, and the 3.5l V-6 will be plenty to tow an 18 footer. Ford really put a lot of time and effort into reviving the old Exploder, to get away from the horrible quality reputation it had. I know you don't want to get a bigger vehicle. But give the new F150's a thought too. High teens for gas mileage, and tons of power. Guys who are driving unloaded on the highway are getting 20+ mpg, and still can tow a 11,000 lb trailer without a problem. PM me if you have any questions.
