Much of that depends on the design of the house. If the garage is under another level and the trusses all run the same way as the house, the garage cannot be extended. The entire HOUSE would have to be extended by that same amount, which would add a tremendous amount of money to building the house.

I'd be interested in seeing the house layout, just because I like looking at those things...
