Steve has been around these boats much longer and can probably offer a better reply, but here is something to keep in mind...

I have owned a tiller model for 5 years. The console would do nothing but take up a spot as big as a big Lakewood, just a little taller. The boat is only 16'9, but it fishes as big as the longest Bass boats. I've had my boat bumped up next to several 21' bass boats when I used to fish Bass tournaments and the fishing area is very comparable. Granted I extended the front deck to where there is only about a 3 foot drop down area in the back and removed every seat, these boats are decked out from the very front to the very back. I love the tillers, but the extra speed would be great and a tiller, kicker motor is an option.

Good luck on your purchase, congratulations on retirement. You will absolutely LOVE this boat. I kiss mine.
