You can follow a contour either way. So, if the wind is pushing you at say 1.5 and you want to go .75 the same way, if you set the cruise at say .75 you should be ok. However, cruise works best with steady or no wind. You would be better off moving slowly into the wind rather than slipping. The more thrust the motor uses (to attain a certain speed) the more control you'll have. I'd try it to be sure though. Let us know how it works!
