One of the side lockers will take 8 ft rods but the center will not. However, I checked out the one at the show and the back end of the locker drops down so in a pinch you could leave the handle stick out, which would be better than on the decks. My thought was that if I got one, I would modify the box with some similar poly material and extend it. Right now I have all telescoping rods so it is not big problem for me.
