Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan!		From my experience with them I would put it around the bow eyelet above and below in case you hit a bad landing. Then I would cut it and install it farther down on the keel. Most of the time the gusrd ends about wher the boat makes strong beach contact. check the bargin caves-outlets for fairly good savings on them.
