Thanks. I assume its one of the Piranha models. That is similar to what I'll end up with; plain, old 4" monochrome unit. I did some research a few weeks ago and some of the reviews (not sure which brand) stated that temp was off by a few degrees on some models and depth was inaccurate on other models. I realize that for the price you can't expect much in terms of accuracy compared to the upper-end units. I just want that one model/brand that is the most reliable of the options available.

I looked into the separate transducer/mounting bracket option and it would cost about the same (or less) as getting an entirely different unit. That was actually my original plan, but I'd rather just get something cheaper so I don't need to worry about breaking my good unit or going through the hassle of transferring it from boat to boat.
