I run mine on constant much of the time without any issues, I personally don't think that causes any problems with the motor. When using constant, I use it in conjuncton with the auto pilot. When casting (or jigging walleyes), I use the footpedal to steer so I can keep both hands on the rod, which I feel is important. In the fall when sucker fishing for example, I rarely use the footpedal. I feel the terrova is better suited for for the multi-species angler and I wouldn't trade it for any other trolling motor.
