As stated you can use the remote and pedal interchangeably. IMO, using the remote while casting has more negatives than positives. Quite simply, you need 2 hands to cast, thus the remote costs you casts. Also, when a fish shows up and you are executing the 8, the ability to cut the motor with the tap of foot is invaluable. No way to do that with a remote while playing your rod.

Remote has positives too. I used it last fall to “figure 8” a sucker and trigger a strike. Spot Lock when you are processing a fish is invaluable.

The Terrova is a great tool all around.
