Yes, you can certainly run a cable to the back but it can be a pain especially with multiple people, gear, animals, etc., in the boat. Once you go wireless, you will never go back. And once you go key fob wireless, you will never go back to foot pad only wireless. It's definitely worth the extra few bucks.
