Was it the outside or inside of the hose? I've seen ethanol degrade the integrity inside the line a few times, leading to it collapsing when the motor's running.

New boats/motors are coming with ethanol-ready parts, but an older boat or motor is pretty susceptible to it. Lots of guys repowering 690s are running into the issue - the motor is new and does fine but the boat's hoses aren't. Probably worth switching to new hoses as a preventive measure.

Or, non-ethanol premium is worth the couple extra bucks a year and then you never have to worry about it.
