You make valid points smallmouth, but to me the i pilot is something I could never fish without again. I was fishing smallies and muskies in the windy conditions on Sunday. Wind was blowing with the current on the river. I hit the spot lok feature when I hooked a fish and didn't have to worry about getting blown into anything and could concentrate on safely landing the fish.
I should mention I fish by myself 90% of the time and that is why I like it so much.
Also because I use my front trolling motor to troll for walleyes it is nice to record a track and I can run my 3 rods trolling and not have to worry about the boat when I am by myself.
My humble opinion but I would never consider getting a trolling motor without it again, and I loved my old cable trolling motor.
Although a talon would be nice.
