That's a pretty big statement. Unless I'm missing something I-Pilot is just a convenience feature. The same things it does can be accomplished with a Fortrex, good depthfinder/GPS, and paying attention.

The same could be said about fishing reels and rods, you could throw the bait like a base ball and hand over hand to retrieve.

But like most items yes it is a convenience. It gives you more fishing time, it turns a average boat control in to above average.

Last night i was fishing high wind and the normal drifts were not showing fish. So
i used the spot lock feature, We were able sit in one spot with high wind and we lost two at the boat, and got a few follows.

We never would have been able to hold our spots with just a manual trolling motor. Convenience Yes, But well worth not stressing over the boat control it is well worth it
