Subject: 4000 gps puck


So I got a new boat and it has two hds8's, down/side scan, with the 4000 puck. The previous owner says I need to charge the rear battery every couple days because the gps puck will draw on the system. My question is how can I avoid having to charge it every couple days. The hds8 units are powered by the master switch at the helm so I can cut power to them but not the puck. Any help would be great.
