Definitely worth the time to copy to a SD Card. Just check the manual book should be easy to do. Check their web sight, it should have some instructional steps. You tube can have an instructional video as well.
Had a unit issue and had to do a hard reset. Was not happy but felt good knowing I had an SD Card with saved info. Have an extra with latest update as well just in case it's needed.
