just replaced mine this spring. i picked up treated 2x4's from home depot and got the carpeting/staples/staple gun from menards. menards has a couple different options for outdoor stain and mold-resistant carpet that will work for making trailer bunks and it always seems to be on sale.

here's a tip:
instead of buying 1 big roll of carpet and needing to cut long strips for each bunk yourself with a razor, figure out how wide you need each strip of carpeting to wrap a 2x4 or 2x6 and have them do it with their machine as they cut it off the roll. saves time and you'll get nice straight cuts
