Mine gets pretty trashed from beaching (black bottom) I have a keel guard but it doesn't protect it from scratches when you beach on sand or pebbles for that matter. I think my keel guard would work better on a hard surface like a ramp , but if the boat rocked it would probably hurt the chine's .

When I first got my boat I was a bit shy about beaching but I got this boat to use it so now I beach away and fix any chips when I get home .
