You can always stick down some of that tape made for the edges of patio concrete steps. Put yer feet on that stuff, a gritty surface, and learn to lean a leg into the seat, boat side or even jam the extension handle of your tiller trolling motor into your hip. Whatever, three points of contact at all times; two feet well stuck to the boat bottom plus something else.

A notion borrowed from climbers - 3 points down at all times. Works great for not falling out of small craft.
