Lowrance is more plug and play(you don't play around with settings other than contrast and range). You can overlay the side imaging onto your map. Humminbird you can dial it in to do specific things like have fish show up better or have hard bottom show as only red. Humminbird has that 360 sonar coming out. However, you have to adjust your screen speed to the boat speed with Humminbird.


Plug and play, that's what 99% of people need because they don't know squat about them. As for fish showing up better, it's definitely not better, it's all in the eye of the beholder. Of course the guy that runs a Bird will say that, same goes for a guy who runs a Lowrance.

As for the 360, great feature, but it's freakin $2000 just for that, not practical by any means. No way am I going to pay the same for that module as I am for a HDS-10 or 1198, especially considering the size of it.
