I would guess that your system is overheating and the motor is shutting itself down before any damage is done or fuses are blown. But, that is just a guess from a guy who knows almost nothing about wiring and current.

If you want a better answer, contact Ed Schilling at 414 321 9662. He is the best MinnKota repairman around. Call him and tell what is happening and he may help diagnose the problem and recommend how to fix it.
