You might be able to crack the race with a cold chisel and get it off. But you also need to wear some eye protection and gloves if you try that. A little filing may fix the thread issue. However, given your discription its probably better to get some local help. Any automotive mechanic can probably fix it or tell you what level of damage you are looking at...... Where do you live?
