Location: Stevens Point, WI		Having talked with Lowrance technicians numerous times in regards to the icon feature that was available on pre-HDS units such as the most recent LCX line, there is no immediate plans to bring icons back.

The reasoning they did away with icons is because the US Coast Guard does not recognize icons as a navigable icon and does provide the necessary information that a waypoint does according to Lowrance.
