Wondering if anyone out there has ever had this issue or anything similar:

A little background: I bought a 2003 Crestliner Fishhawk 1750 this year. The boat was used as a patrol boat for local police, and was never fished in, to the best of my knowledge. So far, everything has worked perfectly and I am very happy with the boat.

This weekend I went out with my Dad to do some panfishing and discovered that my livewell did not work. This was my first time that I have flipped the switch since I bought the boat (in April), and it did work then. I assumed that the problem was either the pump or fuse and figured I would look at it when we took the boat out of the water.

That afternoon I had the boat parked in the driveway and went out to see if I could figure out the issue. Imagine my surprise when I walked to the back of the boat and found the pump running with the switch OFF. I flipped the switch on, then off again, and the pump shut off. 30 seconds later, it turned itself on again. I flipped the switch again, and the same thing happened. I finally got it to stop by disconnecting the battery.

I checked all connections and found nothing visibly wrong. I reconnected the battery and the pump and switch now seem to work fine. I left the battery connected for a few hours to see if it would start on its own again, but it seems ok.

Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this?
