2011 620 (4 BIG batteries in the floor and a pro kicker and alot of lures) with 250 verado is a dog out of the hole. 21p tempest with 3 lg vent plugs was a dog. 3 solid plugs, 20 gal gas and 300# people (and full Muskie load) was pretty good... 6100 rpm/ 60 mph and good hole shot. Tried today with more realistic load (3 adult anglers and full fuel), was back to a dog out of the hole. Gradually drilled out holes w/o significant improvement in hole shot, but had a heavy load so may have to deal with it. Top end was 6000 rpm and 53 mph. Cavitation plate is just out of water when on plane. RPMs during holeshot stayed at 3500-3700, no matter what size vent holes were in prop.
Rev4 prop the best option? Anywhere trade props without bending me over? I need to weigh the boat for an accurate assessment (walleye guys don't Understand how much our Muskie crap weighs...).
I don't really care if I go 53 vs 58 mph. I would much rather have good holeshot and midrange performance.
Thanks in advance,
Howard
