HDS and 520 running different versions Of files. When I put waypoints from hds to 520 I have to save the data to the card in the older version. Version three maybe?

This is likely your problem. Load on your hds. Then save to card with the older format. 520 also dOes not recognize the new icons in hds. It will replace them with blue/white box.
