This is the update he's talking about. As I mentioned, the shallow water mode more than likely got defaulted back to freshwater mode.

To check the mode, go to menu, under Sonar Features, go to Fishing Mode, change to Shallow Water.

Check and see if it's in Shallow Water, if not, set it to that and it'll make a world of a difference. If you've got the latest update, which I'm assuming you do, then you won't need to re-do that because I'm guessing that when you did the hard reset it defaulted back to the freshwater mode.
