hiya,

with synthetic oils, you can effectively troll with a two stroke engine. I am an amsoil fan and have used it religiously in my 2 stroke yamaha and on my old boat with a 50hp Johnson on it. Once I changed to Amsoil HP injector oil, the excess smoke, the strong fumes, and the fouling all went away... I didn't troll much with it, but I also changed plugs every spring, and always opened it up after trolling for some time.

With muskies, trying to troll down below 3mph with a big motor will be tough, but not sure how many applications there are trolling that slow. I know of one guy who used spinnerbaits and trolled under 3mph and did well over open water...
