what year is the motor. there is a fuel cooler on the motor. mine was leaking and the water did the same. mine is a 98 and when merc started makeing the opti's they didnt have the water fuel cooler drain on itself and it would hold water and freeze and crack. but from my understanding they drain now. i would say to take the cover off and put hose on and run it at home and trim motor up and see where its leaking. you may have a crack in the hose or loose clamp or the cooler is leaking
