Uh, so....what's the down side to using a transom saver?

The ONE person that has ever attempted to answer that question that I've seen online, installed it improperly and it fell out of the trailer end of the deal and dug into the road, causing damage to the lower unit.

So, other than damage caused by operator error in "installing" a transom saver.....what's the downside of using one?

I dunno. I've seen this topic discussed several times and I just can't understand why the conversation continues to grow legs.
