I am on my 4th year with the Trojans for the trolling motor (SCS225 – largest size), and this past weekend I had my trolling motor puke on me after two hours. I was like WTH! First time on the water for the year. At the cabin I found one of the two batteries was toast. Run to Eagle River, and I got two new Interstates size 29 to replace them. Didn’t realize Interstates got so pricey!
After the first year with the Trojans I got a cranking battery as well as my Interstate that was in the boat was showing signs of needing replacing (7 years old). Since getting that cranking battery I have always had issues of getting low voltage warnings while night fishing. And I am only talking ½ hour into the night. I never had that issue with the Interstate cranking battery until the year I replaced it.
By the way that was the second Trojan cranking battery I got as the first was junk from the store.
For what it’s worth I think I am done with Trojan, and will be going back to Interstate.
Did you maintain them over the off season? If not, no battery will ever last! |
